Linear non-threshold dose relationship

چکیده

The origins of understanding the effects of radiation began with ignorance, which led to what we today would classify as huge doses of radiation. These proved to have certain and dire consequences. We can say that in the regime of very large doses, the results of increasing the dose are increasing consequences. That is, for large doses, we can say with assurance that Consequences ∝ Dose. The doses elicit a response in all cases, and they appear quickly (often fatally). Health physicists characterize these situations as deterministic. Any subtlety is overwhelmed by the hugeness of the assault.

An Estimation of Laffer Curve in Iran: A Non-Linear Approach

Laffer curve indicates relationship between tax rate and tax income. The aim of this paper is estimating of laffer curve in Iranian economy. To do so, we have used threshold regression method. Empirical results indicate that since the tax rate is low (the threshold value is less than 0.0848) in two-regime model, tax rate and tax income have a significant positive relationship, but when the tax ...

A Weight-of-evidence analysis of the cancer dose-response characteristics of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin (TCDD).

Cancer risk assessment for TCDD and other compounds must focus on the cancer dose-response relationship and corresponding potency for the range of human doses before it can have relevance to the human exposure environment. Major differences of opinion exist over whether the dose-response curve for TCDD and other dioxin congeners is non-linear (incorporating a threshold dose region below which t...

New evidence for the relationship between government size and economic growth in Iran: an application for a three-regime Non-linear threshold regression model

abstract: Over the past two centuries, the role of government and the composition of government spending have changed in most countries of the world. Theoretically, there is no consensus among economists about the size of the state and the degree of state interference in the economy. On the one hand, one can observe classics and market's proponents who believe in a small government and little ...

Radiation Induced Bystander Effect

Introduction: Radiation effects observed in cells that are not irradiated are known as non-targeted effects.  Radiation induced bystander effect (RIBE) as a kind of non-targeted effect has been introduced in recent  years.  RIBE  occurs  in  unexposed  cells  which  are  related  to  adjacent  or  distant  irradiated  cells.  RIBE  contradict with "target theory" which necessitates radiation tr...

Calculating Income Tax Evasion of Legal Entities and Examining its Sustainability through Threshold Non-linear Method

The purpose of this study is to calculate tax evasion based on the income of legal entities and to examine its stability, which has been done by estimating the Tanzi monetary demand function during 1370-1397. The demand function included the ratio of currency holdings to supply of money  as a dependent variable and the tax variables of legal entities, the ratio of wages and salaries to national...

Government Size Threshold and Economic Growth in Iran

We apply the two-sector production function developed by Ram (1986) to estimate the threshold regression model for Iran, concerning the effect of government size on economic growth. Three government size indicators are used to find out the different threshold points. The results show a non-linear relationship of the Armey curve in Iran, in which the threshold effects corresponding to total gove...
